This article details the necessary column configuration so you can properly import your part list to Otimize Nesting.

To import a part list directly to Otimize Nesting, without typing all the part dimensions, quantities, etc. you can import a predefined list in a single operation.
The following image shows how a typical part list in .CSV file looks like:
There is a sample CSV file you can download and use as a starting point to create your own part lists:
There is also a more detailed article on how to use it.
This article is to clarify the meaning of each of the columns you see on the file.
Description: This is the first column of the file and it contains the textual description of the part that must be produced. This text will be available on the nesting diagrams, over the area of the part.
Width: Represents the width of the part to be produced. The length unit (millimetres, centimetres, inches) must match the one you selected in the software configuration
Length: The same for width column applies here.
Quantity: Represents the number of identical parts that will be produced.
Material: Represents the name of the raw material this part will be produced of. During import, Otimize Nesting checks if this material already exists on the material list. If not, a new material record will be created with a default board size added as default.
Note: You can verify the raw material board configuration and edit the properties in the "Boards" area, located in Otimize Nesting main page, like shown in the following picture
Rotate/Grain: If column contains "1" (recommended for most scenarios), then it means this part can be rotated in steps of 90 degrees so the optimizer can find a better layout.
This option should be set to "1" unless the parts your produce come form a material with grain or vein. If so, then we recommended leaving this column value equals "0".
Edge Band. The last four columns indicate which side of the part will receive finishing material. In case of furniture for example, these indicates what sides of the part will receive edge band. The order of these edge band sides are:
Top
Right
Bottom
Left
